NERD ALERT - Book List!

The books I have read within the last few months that are WORTH your time:

Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

This is a MUST read. This book changed my life, which you already know if you've read my blog (day 1). Susan Jeffers gives awesome exercises to re-train your brain to think positively and happy. This book gives you perspectives that only a mature, experienced, pHD person could ever give you and they are priceless.

The Compound Effect

Fabulous book. I recommend this to anyone at anytime!! It really breaks down how to make a change and how the small changes you do add up to success. I really loved it and it's an easy book to read. This book really changed how I viewed success and the world around us.

The Happiness Advantage

I love Shawn Achor. If I could meet him in real life I would have a heart attack. I think it's amazing how he saw the potential for happiness before people really studied happy psychology. He talks about his time spend at Harvard and about the medical school syndrome (which I can relate to). I'm still reading this book, it is my personal development book for Feb.

Life on the Wrong Planet

This book is really funny. It is very sarcastic about the negative and unhappiness in our world today. I also read this book because my dad wrote it. He is a singer (The Barefoot Man) and a writer (clearly).

The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog

This book was written from a therapist's point of view. I bought this book because I was in therapy at the time and wanted to see this side of things. I'm also very interested (partially obsessed) with post traumatic stress syndrome, neglected children, and how those things can cause disassociation (I struggle with this) and depression. This book has life changing stories in it and I think every future mother should read it :)

Unbearable Lightness

This book was amazing. It's amazing how much detail Portia De Rossi shares in this book. If you've ever felt like you've had an eating disorder, this will open your eyes. Not only does it show what can happen if you don't help yourself, it shows how she made it back to being healthy and happy.

The Psychopath Inside
This book is very interesting. It was exactly what I was looking for since I am very interested in the anatomy of the human brain and how our brain is affected by our childhood, trauma, and genetics. BUT I am VERY science oriented and it was even too much neuroscience detail for me, but if that's your thing, go for it!

Think and Grow Rich

I just started a book club that reads one BUSINESS related book per month (got the idea from my beach body coach Liz Horne, http://www.lizhorne.com/). In veterinary school we don't get alot of business training and I want to make sure I know the language everyone is speaking when I get out of school and go into business!! If you want to join my club let me know, it's just a free facebook group! This is our February book, so I haven't read it yet!
